Overview
Summary
The City of Santa Monica is inviting proposals from qualified instructors/contractors interested in providing recreational classes for youth and adults focused on sports and activities at the Annenberg Community Beach House and on Santa Monica State Beach. Proposals are also invited for sports and activity focused youth camps at designated locations on Santa Monica State Beach.
Background
The City of Santa Monica has a long history of offering a vast array of programming aimed at improving the wellbeing of the community. In June 2018, the Santa Monica City Council approved the Framework for a Sustainable City of Wellbeing, which includes Learning as a key outcome. To be successful in attaining this outcome, the City requires a wide range of recreational classes for all ages. The Annenberg Community Beach House and Santa Monica State Beach offer a variety of locations and amenities available to the community for growth and learning through recreation. Classes are generally offered in the afternoons and evening during the week and may be offered year-round. Camps are offered during the summer season.
The following criteria must be met in order to be considered and all submittals will be scored on: Qualifications, Key Personnel and Employees, References, Activity Description and Operations, Cost Proposal, Adaptability and Participant Satisfaction.
Proposed class and camp activities should be appropriate for the setting of the Annenberg Community Beach House and Santa Monica State Beach. Examples of past and potential activities that would meet these criteria include, but are not limited to; yoga, mat Pilates, Tai Chi, fitness classes and sports instruction/skill development for sports such as beach volleyball and beach soccer. Any activity proposed should include aspects that make it especially suitable to this unique environment.
